Internship Opportunities

Orioles Internship Program

OVERVIEW
The Orioles internship program is intended to provide valuable and practical educational experiences for the student. This experience is gained by watching and performing tasks while under the close supervision of an Internship Mentor. All internships are unpaid and must count toward academic credit. In addition, the student is not entitled to a job with the Orioles at the conclusion of the internship.

REQUIREMENTS
Students seeking an internship should meet the following criteria:

  • Current student in a college/university with at least 2.75 overall GPA and a 3.0 major GPA, with a declared major.
  • Ideal candidates should have excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Must have a fan-friendly attitude.
  • During the off-season, interns should be available Monday through Friday, from 9-5.
  • During the season, interns will follow the schedule set by the department and baseball schedule. This may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Digital Marketing & Content - Digital Marketing Intern

The Baltimore Orioles are looking for individuals with creative minds in the Digital Marketing field. This is a great opportunity to earn college credit while learning and assisting the Orioles Digital Team. We are looking for summer interns!

The Digital Marketing intern will work closely with the Orioles' Digital staff, assisting in the following:

  • Social and digital editorial plans
  • Creation and development of content
  • Participating in team meetings and brainstorms

This intern will have their pulse on the latest digital and social trends and industry updates and provide reporting via regular deliverables. Some administrative work is required; opportunity to interface with PR, Advertising, Productions, Community Relations, among other Orioles departments. 

High proficiency in Microsoft Office is a necessity. Previous internship experience is preferred, especially within social marketing for sports and entertainment brands. Flexible schedules and ability to work nights and weekends are a plus.


Digital Marketing & Content - Digital Content Intern

The Baltimore Orioles are looking for individuals with passionate minds for Digital Content creation. This is a great opportunity to earn college credit while learning and assisting the Orioles Digital Content Team. We are looking for all summer interns!

The Digital Content intern will support the Orioles' Digital staff in creating content for:

  • Social platforms
  • The official Team Website - www.orioles.com
  • Other Orioles Digital destinations

 This individual will also assist in the following:

  • Video editing and production
  • Graphic design
  • Other Creative opportunities within the team

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere. Coursework and/or previous professional/internship experience in digital content creation is a must. Flexible schedules and ability to work nights and weekends are a plus.


Corporate Partnership Sales Internships - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)

Description:

The Baltimore Orioles Corporate Partnership department is seeking a Sales Intern to join our team. This is a wonderful opportunity for a current student seeking a career in sports and media sales. The Intern will assist the Corporate Partnership sales staff on a variety of projects including identifying prospects, researching targets, participating on calls, attending sales meetings, developing sales proposals, participating in negotiation process, drafting contracts and the execution of elements. Hours are flexible with a minimum of twenty hours per week. This position is available starting in May, and end date/holiday schedule is flexible.

Projects/Learning Objectives

The intern will be supervised by members of the sales and partnership marketing team and will receive training on the Orioles sales process from prospecting to writing the final contract. The intern will learn both written and verbal communication skills during the sales process as well as event marketing/activation on game days. The intern will learn how to use many programs in the Microsoft Office suite as well as the web-based program, Clear Slide, while developing sales presentations.

Other areas of learning for the intern include using Nielsen products for research on business targets, general office administrative tasks, increasing organizational skills and working in a fast-paced office setting.

Requirements:

  • All Orioles internships must be done for school credit so all candidates must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university
  • Majoring in Business Management, Marketing, Sport Management, Communications or related major

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions:

  • Ideal candidate will be out-going, goal oriented and persistent with communications
  • Available to intern during regular office hours
  • Desire and willingness to learn about sports partnership sales
  • Strong organizational skills which allow the intern to handle multiple tasks, prioritize assignments and complete work prior to deadlines
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong active listener
  • Have a "team first" mindset while also being a great teammate
  • Aptitude for preventing and handling objections
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint)

Partnership Marketing Internships - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)

Summary:

Partnership Marketing interns will gain valuable experience in the field of sports partnership activation and sales. He/She shall participate in the coordination and execution of both game day and non-game day events in and around Oriole Park including but not limited to tabling activations, pre-game ceremonies, VIP hospitality experiences, partner field days and the gathering of photos and information for end of season recaps. In addition, the Partnership Marketing intern will assist in providing research for and creating proposals for new business and renewal clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with game day and non-game partnership activations
  • Collect photos and information for end of season partnership review presentations
  • Provide research for new business and renewal proposals
  • Requirements:

 Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • All Orioles internships must be done for school credit so all candidates must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university
  • Majoring in Sport Management, Business Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related major
  • Previous internship or marketing experience preferred

  • Available to intern both during regular office hours and during most Orioles home games during semester
  • Desire and willingness to learn about sports partnerships activations and/or sales

Orioles Alumni - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)

The internship is designed to provide the student with experience in archival research as well as event management. The intern will assist the department staff with daily tasks in two primary areas: (1) team archives -- researching, identifying and cataloging team and player files and photographs; and (2) Orioles Alumni program -- assisting with pre-game, in-game and community functions involving former players, as well as database management. The intern should have experience with Word and Excel programs, and be comfortable both working alone on projects as well as with Orioles sponsors and clients in the social setting of the ballpark. Some nights and weekends are required. Available for spring, summer or fall semesters.


Ballpark Operations - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)

The Intern will have the opportunity to: 

  • Actively learn by helping to oversee a staff of approximately 600 event staff employees. 
  • Learn the techniques used to prepare and execute the ongoing training of the event staff from the Coordinator and Manager of Event Operations Log and assist with managing the employee recognition program.
  • Learn the techniques used to ensure an efficient and accurate operation on gamedays when it comes to staff scheduling, assignments, and paperwork. 
  • Maintain, under the direction of the Internship Mentor a variety of reports/logs that pertain to the safe and efficient operation of the ballpark. 
  • Assist, under the direction of the Internship Mentor with creation and distribution of Gameday Credentials (Non-Media).

Public Relations - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)

The intern will learn and develop skills in effectively dealing with the media and public by working in the public relations office. Research and statistical skills will be honed in this internship opportunity. Prior experience with a sports team or college sports information office is preferred, but not required. The applicant must be willing to work nights and weekends during the season.


Productions Internship

JOB SUMMARY
The internship is designed to gain experience and insight into the Productions department for a Major League Baseball team. Under the direction of the Internship mentor, the intern will further enhance, develop and acquire skills from performing the below listed tasks and other task to be assigned:

  • Camera work, such as shooting special events, on-site and off-site player appearances, and shooting for Oriole Productions
  • Perform editing tasks on Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere
  • Edit packages they have shot and create video content to be displayed in the ballpark
  • Assist with video archiving

REQUIREMENTS

  • The internship will be three days a week including some weekends
  • Must be focused on television/video production as a career
  • Must have a passion for video production and baseball
  • Completed classes that focus on camera work and editing using Final Cut/Adobe Premier
  • Must be able to successfully work in a team environment as well as complete various individual projects
  • Must be flexible and willing to work long hours
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge in graphics such as Illustrator, Photo Shop and After Effects is preferred but not required

The Baltimore Orioles Productions Internship is a non-paid position and not eligible for benefits, but is eligible for college credit. The Baltimore Orioles do not guarantee a position within the organization after completion of this internship.
